A Message from Our Principal

Welcome Back, Innovators!

Please read this important information regarding this coming school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office at 502-8300. We are happy to help!

Office Hours: The office is open Monday–Friday 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

School Hours: Gates will open at 8:15 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 8:15 to 8:40 a.m. The bell rings at 8:45 a.m., and the tardy bell rings at 8:50 a.m. Dismissal on Monday is at 2:15 p.m. Dismissal for Tuesday–Friday is at 3:45 p.m.

Parents: Parents are not be allowed on campus during the school day. Parents may not eat breakfast or lunch at school due to limited space. Parent volunteers are permitted. If you are interested in applying to become a volunteer, please stop by the office and pick up an application. Ms. Leon will explain the process. Background check and finger print card are
required for all volunteers. Parents and families are welcome on campus for our family events!

Water Bottles: We encourage students to bring their own water bottle (write student’s name on the bottle) and use the refilling stations. It is very important for students to stay hydrated during the extreme heat of summer. Water bottles must have a spill proof top and no straw. (No Stanleys, please)

Breakfast and Lunch: We offer breakfast daily at no cost to all students. Lunch is $1.50 per day unless a free or reduced meal application is submitted and approved. A meal application can be submitted through LINQ Connect or by downloading the LINQ Connect app. More detailed information is available in our welcome letter.

Transportation: Bus routes are available for this coming school year. Please visit our Transportation page and click on the bus routes link located on the right-hand side.

Personal Belongings: We highly encourage parents to write their student’s name on personal belongings such as sweatshirts, jackets, hats, lunch bags, and water bottles. They are easier to return to students when they are labeled. Thank you so much!

Before and After School Child Care: Right at School will continue to provide this service to our district. Please visit the Right at School website, or call 855-287-2466 for additional information or to register. They are accepting enrollment for this school year.

Safety: Please be aware that Dorothy Hall was finally approved for a school zone after a study was completed and approved by the state of Arizona and the city of Yuma. This was a lengthy and difficult process but we are very excited to have our school zone. Everyone must drive 15 mph around our school campus. Please do not park in the no parking zones as designated by the new signage that was placed by the city of Yuma. You will be subject to a citation if you are parked in any of the no parking zones. Additionally, four speed bumps were installed this summer in the pick-up and drop-off lane. Please pay attention to students and families that are in crosswalks whether they are marked or unmarked. We greatly appreciate your assistance with this matter!

Pick Up and Drop Off

Drive-Through: The pick-up and drop-off lane entrance is located on the east side of the school. Please enter there and once the line of cars is beyond the school area then continue to line up along 45th Place. Do not enter the lane from Luane Avenue. Please remember to use caution around the campus and be aware of the crossing guard that is assisting students with crossing the street.

Park and Pick Up: Parking is very limited. General parent parking will be on the streets around school. Please park and walk to the gate on the west side of campus for pick up and drop off. Walking through the drive lane is not permitted, please use only the sidewalks to walk to and from the west gate. The parking lot in front of school is reserved for preschool and special education parents only. A parking permit will be required to use the front parking lot this year. Absolutely no drive through drop off or pick up is permitted in the front of school. That lane is strictly for the buses.

Walkers: We expect students that are walking to and from school to go all the way to school and to their home walking. Please do not ask your child to walk out with the walkers and then load them in your car.

Bicycles or Scooters: Children may ride bikes or scooters to school, and they must obey all traffic and safety rules. Arizona law requires children to wear helmets.

We are looking forward to another outstanding school year! Thank you for your partnership and support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the office.

Sincerely,

Leeanne Lagunas
